Remembering Peter Robinson

Canadian mystery author Peter Robinson who wrote 28 Inspector Banks novels, died last year, but his final book, Standing in the Shadows, was published this month. The publisher brought together 3 blockbuster authors to remember and celebrate Robinson, as well as to promote the final book; the three were Ian Rankin (author of the Inspector Rebus books), Louise Penny (author of the Inspector Gamache books), and Michael Connelly (author of the Harry Bosch books).

The result was recorded and you can watch the 45 minute conversation among these rock star authors as posted on YouTube here: https://harrogateinternationalfestivals.com/hif-player/a-tribute-to-peter-robinson-08-06-2023/ I very, very highly recommend it! Insightful in many ways.

Our currently traveling book club member -Ed Noymer- recommended a Peter Robinson book for next year’s list. I love the DCI Banks shows -distributed through ITV- that are “based” on Robinson’s books. [They differ from Robinson’s books in the same way that Amazon’s BOSCH differs from Connelly’s books.] Nevertheless, I have never read one of the Banks books. So I am looking forward to see if the Peter Robinson book, Past Reason Hated (Book #5), gets voted in during the club voting in July.

New Seasons of Lincoln Lawyer and Bosch Legacy are Almost Here!

Lincoln Lawyer Season 2: There are 10 episodes in all and they are based on MC’s book The Fifth Witness. On June 6, Netflix officially (and surprisingly!) announced The Lincoln Lawyer season 2 release date for summer 2023. It will be released in two parts (each with 5 episodes): The first part of the season will drop on July 6, and the second part will arrive on Aug. 3. I think it’s better to wait until August 3, but — do we have the discipline to wait!?

Bosch Legacy Season 2: Like Season 1, it will be available on FreeVee, Amazon’s ad supported channel. It is expected to be released sometime this fall. More into must wait for the powers that be.

Even More, but NOT almost here: Currently being developed – a show featuring J Edgar (the Amazon version of him of course). In this case, Edgar is no longer in the LAPD but has an undercover job in Miami drug enforcement. And, it looks like Reneé Ballard will be getting her own show as well!
