Types of Mystery Book Fan Events: Choose —
- From one day conferences or panels to 4-day conventions.
- Events that focus more on “cozies” (traditional stories) to events that focus on thrillers. Or choose events that are a combination of both. (Example: “Bouchercon” and “Left Coast Crime” are both good examples of conferences that are inclusive of all types of crime fiction.)
- National events or a regional event. (Example: The New England CrimeBake has authors mainly from New England attending.)
- Just a mystery book fan event, or combine it with other tourism. (Example: attend the annual “Iceland Noir” event for 3 days and then spend some days enjoying the beautiful scenery of Iceland.)
- Conferences that are more fan-friendly… or if you want to perfect your writing skills, choose the conferences that emphasize help for writers. All of the conferences are some combination of both, but some events are more fan-friendly than others.
